Bringing Smiles, Hope, and Comfort to Children Across Northeast Ohio

Every toy donated, every blanket tied, and every partnership formed helps us remind children facing difficult circumstances that they are not alone. During the third quarter of 2026, the Children’s Toy Fund community came together to make a meaningful difference, delivering 6,113 toys, supporting local organizations, and welcoming new friends into our mission. From hospital toy deliveries to hands-on service projects, this quarter was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to bring a little more joy, comfort, and hope to children who need it most.

Summary From Our Program Coordinator

"Our third quarter was busy, as we had the privilege of delivering toys to almost all of our partner organizations over the three months. In addition to providing over 4,000 toys to Akron Children’s Hospital, which is always a big undertaking, we also supplied fun items to all the Aultman Hospital Campuses and three foster care agencies.

We love every chance to deliver toys to children facing difficult circumstances, whether we are making one of our routine drops to a local hospital or meeting a special request. Some of the special requests we were able to fulfill this quarter include the donation of 57 backpacks to Project Kare for their back-to-school efforts for their families and 169 toys to Caring for Kids when they requested a refill on crafts and fidget items for their families.

It was a great quarter of giving and we’re thankful for every partnership we have that allowed us to bring smiles and fun to the places where kids needed it most!"

Our third quarter was filled with opportunities to bring fun and comfort to children throughout Northeast Ohio. Between July and September, we distributed 6,113 toys to organizations serving children facing difficult circumstances.

From routine hospital deliveries to special requests from community partners, each donation helped ensure more children could experience moments of joy during challenging times.

The Toys Bringing Joy to Children in Need

Every child deserves opportunities to play, explore, and simply enjoy being a kid. That is why we work to provide a variety of toys that meet different interests, ages, and needs.

During Q3, crafts made up 30.3% of our toy donations, followed by stuffed animals at 22.1% and balls at 11.6%. Sensory toys, games, figures and dolls, outdoor play items, infant and toddler toys, and other fun items rounded out our donations.

Whether it is a creative activity to pass the time, a stuffed animal to offer comfort, or a game that brings a smile, these items provide children with opportunities for fun during difficult moments.

Supporting Northeast Ohio Hospitals and Community Organizations

Behind every toy delivery is a community partner working to support children and families through challenging circumstances. We are honored to come alongside these organizations and help provide a little extra comfort when it matters most.

During the third quarter, our donations reached Akron Children’s Hospital, Aultman Hospital campuses, Project KARE, Caring for Kids, and other partner organizations serving children and youth.

These partnerships allow us to extend our reach and bring moments of happiness to children in the places where they need it most.

How Children’s Toy Fund Bingo Players Help Bring Smiles to Kids

Every bingo night is about more than a chance to win. The support of our charitable gaming community helps make our mission possible, bringing smiles, hope, and comfort to children facing difficulties across Northeast Ohio.

During Q3 2026, we welcomed 4,221 players across 34 sessions, averaging 124 players per night.

To every patron who joins us, brings a friend, and continues to support Children’s Toy Fund Bingo: thank you. Your participation helps us turn community support into meaningful moments of joy for children who need an extra reason to smile.

Community Service Projects That Bring Comfort to Local Youth

Sometimes, the most meaningful gifts are the ones made by hand. This quarter, volunteers from Orrville Volleyball and Alliance Aviator Athletics joined us to create tie blankets and bundles for local youth facing difficult circumstances.

These projects take many hands, and the time and care volunteers contribute help us do more than our small team could accomplish alone. Each blanket and bundle represents a community choosing to show up for someone else.

What may feel like a few hours of service can become a lasting source of comfort for another person. We are grateful to every volunteer who helped turn kindness into something a child can hold close.

Aktion Club of Stark County Joins Children’s Toy Fund in Giving Back

New partnerships bring new opportunities to make a difference. This quarter, we were excited to connect with the Kiwanis Aktion Club of Stark County, part of the Stark County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

During several visits to our facility, Aktion Club members helped sticker hundreds of toys—a task that would have taken our small team multiple days to complete on its own.

One member also generously donated eight handmade blankets and 28 crocheted hats!

Beyond the work accomplished, we were grateful for the opportunity to meet these incredible individuals, hear their stories, and witness their enthusiasm for helping others. Their generosity reminds us that everyone has something meaningful to contribute, and every act of kindness helps our mission reach a little further.

Building Community Partnerships at the Canton Chamber of Commerce After Hours

When a community comes together, incredible things can happen. In September, we were honored to host the Canton Chamber of Commerce After Hours event at our facility, welcoming chamber members and friends for an evening of connection, conversation, and sharing our mission.

Events like these create opportunities to build relationships, discover shared goals, and explore how we can work together to support children and families facing difficult circumstances.

We believe meaningful partnerships begin with conversations. We look forward to continuing those conversations throughout the community and discovering new ways to bring smiles and support to youth and families when they need it most.

Looking Ahead: Holiday Toy Drives, Blankets, and More Ways to Give

"The changing into fall means shifting into full-on Holiday mode, which brings both excitement and busyness. We ask our connections throughout the region what could help them most through this next season. Then, our team starts to look at all the trending holiday toy items to create our shopping and wish lists to ensure that we can equip Santa with everything he could possibly need to make this holiday season special for youth facing difficulties.

As of the beginning of this month (October), there are plans from connections for three separate toy drives that will benefit the Children’s Toy Fund this holiday season. We are so grateful for the added support to bring even more smiles beyond our own capacity. Additionally, we have three service projects on the calendar to build tie blankets for youth in foster care to provide a tangible comfort item to wrap up with through the season.

As we come to the end of the year, it is always amazing to not just look forward at what is next, but also to look back at the support, connections, and friends we have made throughout the year that have helped us realize dreams that are beyond anything I could have imagined. To all those who have helped us get this far, thank you so much for your continued support and belief in the mission that we are on: to ensure no children facing difficulties feel alone—that they always have a reason to smile and, even if just for a moment, feel just a little bit lighter and supported."

— Ashley Natale, Executive Director

Together, We Can Make Sure No Child Feels Alone

As we reflect on the third quarter of 2026, we are reminded that the impact of Children’s Toy Fund extends far beyond the toys we deliver. It lives in the generosity of our bingo patrons, the hands of our volunteers, the dedication of our community partners, and every person who believes that children deserve to feel supported through difficult times.

To everyone who has donated, volunteered, participated in bingo, hosted a service project, or helped spread the word about our mission: thank you! Your support helps us reach more children and create moments when the weight of a difficult situation feels just a little lighter.

There is always room for another helping hand, another community connection, and another reason for a child to smile. Whether you join us for bingo, organize a toy drive, volunteer your time, or partner with us on a service project, you can help make a difference.

Together, we can continue our mission to ensure no child facing difficulties feels alone—and that every child has a reason to smile, even if just for a moment.
